Where is Gillian?

We are sorry to report that we are no longer receiving information from Gillian's transmitter. When you click on her map, you'll see her final position. Our colleagues on nesting beaches in the Caribbean suggest that she may have been incidentally caught in fishing gear off Grenada. It is also possible that a male turtle may have damaged her transmitter during mating. We hope that she is alive and well. If so, there is a good chance that she will be found nesting in Trinidad or somewhere in the Lesser Antilles later this season. The nesting groups in those regions are keeping their eyes peeled for her. If they do find her, we will likely receive the news before the end of June.

Each of the turtles has its own map. Please click below to see them.

Allie was tagged on August 5, 2003. She spent more than two months feeding before she began her trek south.

Blackie is a male turtle who was tagged on July 16, 2003. He is a small turtle with a CCL of 134 cm.

Jesse was tagged on August 12, 2003, and has travelled more than 4,000 kilometres since then!

Gillian, like Johanna, had a PIT tag in her shoulder! She was originally tagged on Matura Beach in Trinidad. We satellite tagged her on August 27, 2003, off Cape Breton Island. "Gillian" was named by the winner of our T-shirt draw! For more information on our T-shirt Program click here
